Good afternoon! Sitting here after a VERY long day in Paris… day six of our Summer travels… writing this post. Today we toured the Louvre and even though I have been before, it took my breath away just as much as the first time I visited. The size and scale of the building alone is truly unreal. Not to mention of course all of the art and statues and history! The least impressive of course… the Mona Lisa… LOL. So much smaller than you’d think with a packed crowd all pushing and shoving for a front row view. ANYWAYS, for more on our six week travels… follow along on IG stories! Tomorrow we are headed to Versailles for everyone’s first time and I cannot wait!!!
Today I am finally sharing our completed sunroom! A little over a year ago, John started transforming our covered back porch into a fully enclosed, heated/cooled sunroom. Although our back porch was super cute, we never ever used it. With the heat of Georgia Summers and what seems like nine months of mosquitoes, it was always either too hot, too buggy or too yellow with pollen. It had such great bones though with amazing views of our backyard so we decided to make it a part of the interior of our home.
John piddled-ish with trimming out and enclosing this space for maybe six months and the final product turned out soooo beautiful! Aside from the kitchen, it is by far the most used and loved room in our home. It has become quite the family hangout!
To complete this space, John first reframed, blocked in and trimmed out each opening and then ordered custom glass for each section. He also removed all of the existing lower siding, re-shirred up the framing, re-insulated and re-wired the space (for outlets and the new chandy!) and then replaced the siding. From there he installed cement board onto the existing deck floor and we had the room tiled (tile linked below!). He also added a new air unit for just this space AND even designed the most gorgeous new exterior French doors. Here’s a peek at the space THEN and NOW!!!

Will share more on furnishings soon! We cleared out the space to install new motorized woven shades so I decided to photograph and blog the completed (empty) space since I had not done so prior.
