Our Beautiful New Light Blue Front Door Paint Color w/ Ace Hardware!

I don’t know about you guys but I am sooooo ready for the weekend!!! Mark and I are headed up to our cabin solo Saturday night for a little renovation date night. So romantic huh? Ha! For us this is like dream weekend. Just the two of us, a couple of bottles of wine and a weekend full of projects to complete our little “Wilderness Wonderland”. We are always reno’ing homes and doing projects with two little ones in tow so it will be kind of fun to fully focus and get lots accomplished. We have set a date of completion for April 15th so we definitely need to get our booties to work!

Today is quite possibly one of my very favorite blog posts. First of all, thanks to Ace Hardware I got to create my very own paint color! Basically enough said. You guys know how much I LOOOVE color! I have kind of done this color creating thing before by mixing two existing paint colors to create the perfect shade – but this time, I literally started from scratch and mixed up my very OWN paint color that I named… Pacific Wonderland. More on that shortly. Another reason this posts tops my list is that curb appeal has kind of been toward the bottom of our list for quite some time with our 1905 fixer upper. Although the front porch is what everyone else sees everyday when they drive by, interiors are our jam so we have focused mostly on that over the last two years. Until now! We are FINALLY getting our fence fixed here soon since Hurricane Irma brought a tree down on top of it last Fall – so I have been extra motivated to get everything else out front looking better as well.

Ace Hardware reached out to partner on a paint project and I jumped at the chance to get a head start on our front porch for Spring with a brand new front door color!  In celebration of Ace’s biggest paint sale of the year, they are hosting a Neighborhood Paint Party participating stores on Saturday, March 24th from 11am to 2pm. Customers like you are invited to create and name your very own paint color for a chance to become Ace’s 2019 Color of the Year and win $1000 in Ace gift cards! Stores will also be offering paint demonstrations and Great deals on paint, and you’ll get to mix your OWN custom color like I did!

Literally IN LOVE with this idea! As an Ace influencer, I got the chance to get a head start on creating my “Color of the Year” by visiting their store last week and creating my dream paint color. For this project, I chose to do our front door. Although it ever so slightly pained me to paint our wood stained door, Mark and I both knew a good coat of paint was just what it needed. After years of damage and some really deep scratches, the stain just wasn’t protecting it as much as it should and it continuously got mold spots and rough patches. I always get nervous about painting wood because there is no going back but I am now OBSESSED! So fresh and clean and beautiful now! Here is a peek at the process and my custom paint color…

After mixing and adding and mixing and adding, I finally landed on the perfect light blue with a hint of green and a hint of gray. I paired it with another favorite, Clark+Kensington’s Designer White 1066 to create THE perfect front door refresh.

Before the big reveal, let me chat a little more about Ace Hardware… One thing I personally LOVE about Ace is how their associates were able to help me find everything I needed for my paint project in just one trip to the store! Ace stands by their promise to provide helpful, knowledgeable service and needed supplies in one trip so I can tackle my paint project or delivery is free! And if something is forgotten or you require additional paint products, Ace will help purchase all missing items via phone and deliver to your home with no delivery fee. Visit your local Ace today to get the tips and tools you need to start your next paint project! To find your local Paint Studio at Ace, please visit: www.thepaintstudio.com/stores.php

To enter the Color of the Year contest visit your participating local Ace this Saturday from 11am to 2pm or go to http://thepaintstudio.com/color-of-the-year Now through March 26th, you can also head into your local Ace to receive their Buy One Get One Free paint offer! Ace’s BuyOne,GetOneFree(BOGO) paint offer will be available on all gallons of Valspar® Optimus, Valspar® Aspire, Clark+Kensington® and Royal® interior and exterior paint. Gallons only. Limit two free gallons total. Okay to mix and match brands. Offer valid at participating stores from March 21st through March 26th. Discounted item must be of equal or lesser value. Love this color. I tried 3 times today and no one would color match “ from a photo.” Do you have a color you know that is close to this( front door blue)? Also, did you use the same color of white for the front door trim as you did for the entire house trim? Thank you!

What brand of paint did you use for the outside of your house? In the pictures with your door the original wood, the home looks super dark, but in the pics with the blue door, the siding color looks much lighter. Is that just a difference in sunlight?

Hi there! I also love the front door color! But I’m actually messaging about your exterior color. You said 1/2 soot and 1/2 witching hour – how did you accomplish this? This may be a total newbie question. – but i love the color and was wondering how you mixed these.

Does the house look darker than the pics? It seems the combo of soot and witching hair would be much darker.

Hi Addison! I love this color palette! Can you tell me the name of the siding colors? I looked up “soot” and “witching hour” but they are super dark gray.

    Thanks! Crsitina

When they say it goes fast, they aren’t kidding even a little bit. I now see her “in passing” as she goes from school to band to hanging out with friends, her boyfriend, quiz bowl, honors clubs and everything in between. I’m so crazy proud of the young woman she’s become. Top ten in her class, living/studying in France for a month this January, and then possibly studying another month living on a college campus this Summer as part of the Georgia Honors Program in French. She’s beautiful, witty, crazy smart, incredibly creative, musically talented and has the biggest heart. Couldn’t be more proud to call her mine. Love you Addison!!! 💗💗💗

Now for how we secured it all…
1. For the garland, John secured a screw into the mortar on the top ledge of the brick. From there, he added a zip tie around the garland, and then looped the zip tied loop over the screw.
2. For the stockings, with simply hot glued clear command hooks on top of the brick. The hot glue comes off easy peasy! Follow my shop @addisonswonderland on the @shop.LTK app to shop this post and get my exclusive app-only content! #liketkit #LTKSeasonal #LTKHoliday #LTKhome
