I don’t know about you guys but I am sooooo ready for the weekend!!! Mark and I are headed up to our cabin solo Saturday night for a little renovation date night. So romantic huh? Ha! For us this is like dream weekend. Just the two of us, a couple of bottles of wine and a weekend full of projects to complete our little “Wilderness Wonderland”. We are always reno’ing homes and doing projects with two little ones in tow so it will be kind of fun to fully focus and get lots accomplished. We have set a date of completion for April 15th so we definitely need to get our booties to work!
Today is quite possibly one of my very favorite blog posts. First of all, thanks to Ace Hardware I got to create my very own paint color! Basically enough said. You guys know how much I LOOOVE color! I have kind of done this color creating thing before by mixing two existing paint colors to create the perfect shade – but this time, I literally started from scratch and mixed up my very OWN paint color that I named… Pacific Wonderland. More on that shortly. Another reason this posts tops my list is that curb appeal has kind of been toward the bottom of our list for quite some time with our 1905 fixer upper. Although the front porch is what everyone else sees everyday when they drive by, interiors are our jam so we have focused mostly on that over the last two years. Until now! We are FINALLY getting our fence fixed here soon since Hurricane Irma brought a tree down on top of it last Fall – so I have been extra motivated to get everything else out front looking better as well.
Ace Hardware reached out to partner on a paint project and I jumped at the chance to get a head start on our front porch for Spring with a brand new front door color! In celebration of Ace’s biggest paint sale of the year, they are hosting a Neighborhood Paint Party participating stores on Saturday, March 24th from 11am to 2pm. Customers like you are invited to create and name your very own paint color for a chance to become Ace’s 2019 Color of the Year and win $1000 in Ace gift cards! Stores will also be offering paint demonstrations and Great deals on paint, and you’ll get to mix your OWN custom color like I did!
Literally IN LOVE with this idea! As an Ace influencer, I got the chance to get a head start on creating my “Color of the Year” by visiting their store last week and creating my dream paint color. For this project, I chose to do our front door. Although it ever so slightly pained me to paint our wood stained door, Mark and I both knew a good coat of paint was just what it needed. After years of damage and some really deep scratches, the stain just wasn’t protecting it as much as it should and it continuously got mold spots and rough patches. I always get nervous about painting wood because there is no going back but I am now OBSESSED! So fresh and clean and beautiful now! Here is a peek at the process and my custom paint color…
After mixing and adding and mixing and adding, I finally landed on the perfect light blue with a hint of green and a hint of gray. I paired it with another favorite, Clark+Kensington’s Designer White 1066 to create THE perfect front door refresh.

Ooooh…love this! Also inquiring about the availability of the blue!
Hi! Thanks so much! Just bring them an image and they can color match! XOXO
The color is perfect for the whole house! I love that you chose white around the door as it makes the door look crisp and clean!
Thank you SOOO much! I was so super nervous about painting it all but so glad I did. And you are too sweet!! XOXO
The new paint job really makes all those little square windows POP! I didn’t even notice then when the for was stained. It looks so much better and I really do love your custom color!
Wow thank you! Means so so much! XOXO
Love this color. I tried 3 times today and no one would color match “ from a photo.” Do you have a color you know that is close to this( front door blue)? Also, did you use the same color of white for the front door trim as you did for the entire house trim? Thank you!
I agree. Would have been nice to get an answer on this.
I love the outside color of your home you said it was spot and witching hour what brand?
Can you please tell me color of your house? I love it!
What brand of paint did you use for the outside of your house? In the pictures with your door the original wood, the home looks super dark, but in the pics with the blue door, the siding color looks much lighter. Is that just a difference in sunlight?
Hi there! I also love the front door color! But I’m actually messaging about your exterior color. You said 1/2 soot and 1/2 witching hour – how did you accomplish this? This may be a total newbie question. – but i love the color and was wondering how you mixed these.
Does anyone know what color she mixed for the door? I’d like to use the exact same one (exterior too)!
Absolutely Wonderful!!!♡
Hi Are you able to provide the exact color a d brand ne of paint you used, I an at Ace and they are not able to pull Pacific Wonderland up?
Did you get any answer to this question ? Ace looked at me like I was crazy.
she named it Pacific Wonderland – that is the color of the paint.
Does the house look darker than the pics? It seems the combo of soot and witching hair would be much darker.
Hi Addison! I love this color palette! Can you tell me the name of the siding colors? I looked up “soot” and “witching hour” but they are super dark gray.
Thanks! Crsitina
