Choosing the Perfect Exterior Paint Colors for our Farmhouse Bungalow Flip Renovation…
(this photo was taken pre-renovation)
Good afternoon friends! It is 5pm on a Saturday night and I am currently staring at my computer with paint covered hands trying to nail down a paint color for our flip house. Soooooo fun. And driving Mark nuts with my indecisiveness. You see, approximately 99.9% of the time I am the quickest decider ever. I can select interior paint colors and wallpaper and furniture and everything in between in about two seconds flat. But then there’s exterior colors…. not my jam. Except door colors. I do LOVE a good door color! Oh and restaurant decisions… forgot about that. I think I don’t care and will eat whatever until Mark starts naming things. And then everything sounds horrible. So maybe it is closer to 95% of the time that I am quick and efficient. But you get what I mean…
ANYWAYS, this girl is currently on the struggle bus about our “Highland House”. Serious struggle bus. I cannot freaking decide! You see, if it were MY HOME I would do it quite differently than when it is just being sold to the random public. That means that I have to go the ever so slightly more normal route and stay in the “safe zone”. Which if you haven’t guessed… IS NOT MY THING! Mark has decided that he does want me to “do my thing” on the insides of our flip homes now but exteriors are a little more tricky.
As you may have seen on my IG stories the other day, I love playing around with the Benjamin Moore Personal Color Viewer. You can see the many options I played around with for our current home on this post… “Having Second Thoughts“. Their color visualizer helped me SOOO much with our home and I am obsessed the color I chose. And now here I am again. Stuck. So here’s a peek at some of the options I have played around with AND keep scrolling for the four we have narrowed it down to. Make sure and sign up to follow my blog to see this project and all of our future flips come to life!

Is the roof staying the same color? I like The first two but I feel Like you lose the door a little bit with it being painted “soot” but that may just be in the pics. I really Love the charm of that “greyhound” door. I’m sure whichever you choose will be beautiful but I think I’m partial to the second one. Good luck!

I love all these options that you narrowed them down to. However, #2 is my favorite because of the door color.
Timia says
I’m loving option #2…. it gives a fresh look and allows the door to pop!!
Margie says
I know you eliminated these options but the witching hour or soot siding with the greyhound front door would be my choice
Liz says
Option number 2, but whatever you do I’m sure will be amazing!!

Option 2
Erin says
I like option 2!! Good luck!

Any of them, but I love the Azores blue door. Whatever one that door looks best with! And then add a tiny bit of that into white for the porch ceiling. The dark doors are too deep set to set it off and be inviting. A door is an easy thing to paint. Probably one of the grays is better than white. You need white trim. Everything white is too white. What’s happening with the steps? The roof color would be good for the steps.

I like the dark brown siding!

Option 1!!
Heather says
Love all the colors but REALLY love option #2.

Stone gray with white trim but a color on front door please like teal.

#2!!! I love the door – (I did love the really dark siding on some of the pictures you didn’t pick for an option….)

I like #4. While I love a lighter exterior color, a darker color is more durable to elements and that color is such a chameleon that you can’t go wrong. Good luck!
Crystal says
2 for sure..light and fresh
Lensey says
Option #2 is my fav!
Allison says
I like option #2!!

Are you rebuilding the x railings or keeping the existing ones and just painting them? If you plan on rebuilding them I think they would look nice in a dark(ish) stain and then the house painted in option 2 would give it a nice farmhouse feel. But either way I really like option 2.

Option #2 but door a with a little more color – Azores?
Lindsey says
I guess I am the minority, but I like 6 and 8.

Of the 4 paint color options, I like options 1 and 4 best 🙂 Best of luck to you! The house will be absolutely beautiful regardless of the exterior paint color you decide to use!

They are all lovely and you can’t go wrong, but option 2 is my fav!
