Creating a Beautiful Harry Potter “Themed” Bedroom for Addison…
Fur Bench / “Expecto Patronum” Pillow / Wallpaper / Bed / Pillow Shams
It is almost February!!! I seriously cannot even believe that. I was telling Mark last night that we are one month into 2018 and I have not eaten good for one solid day and haven’t hit the gym even once. Grrrr… Between being out of town way too much and our unseasonably cold weather here in Georgia, my motivation level has basically been a zero. Zero point zero zero. Hitting the gym tonight though and just praying I don’t die. Like for real. My sis and I have a personal training sesh every Monday night but I haven’t been able to make a single one yet this year. This week is my week though! Getting back on track and getting back into my schedule groove. I do much better with eating right and exercising when I am in a routine and am in town for long enough to merit hitting the grocery store. Which also hasn’t fully happened in 2018. Hope your 2018 resolutions are going a wee bit better than mine. Argh.
As you can probably imagine, themed decor is not my personal design jam. To be completely honest, I actually created Addison’s Wonderland (my bedding company) back in 2009 to create a beautiful bedroom for my first born daughter Addison that did not involve circus animals, Disney characters or zoo creatures. So the fact that this blog post even has the word “themed” in it means I love my kid A LOT! LOL!
Fast forward nine years from the creation of Addison’s Wonderland and Addison is now ten years old with an absolute obsession with all things Harry Potter. From pajamas to Legos to board games and even her school book bag, she asked for everything Harry Potter for Christmas. Well, that and a dozen more book series since she has read all eight or nine Harry Potter books a dozen times. Literally. And since she likes to pretend that she lives in Ravenclaw and we are just her wee old muggle parents ;-), I decided to give her bedroom a little touch of Hogwarts charm for Christmas this year. Nothing over the top of course, but just enough to make her bedroom feel a little more magical…
Oh and don’t forget about this GREAT SALE…
P.S. Yes, I still need to order a bedskirt AND we still haven’t fixed the right side of her canopy. Just had to share the two things that drive me bonkers about this room reveal. That y’all probably don’t even notice. LOL!

The sheets and the owl lamp! So cute! See, themed rooms don’t have to be cheesy! Unless your kid asks for like Paw Patrol or something. I couldn’t handle that lol!
When we moved into a new house when I was about 3 years old, the existing kids room was 101 Dalmations themed. AWFUL. Three textured walls that were white and red sponge paint. One wall was a mural of a tree and a dalmation. Shag carpeting. I begged my parents not to renovate it until I was a little older hahah!
Thank you girl! SO nice of you! Haha yes Winnie TOTALLY wanted all of that Paw Patrol stuff at Target! I gave in to the $10 Paw Patrol fleece but that was IT! LOL! XOXO
I LOVE all of the colors in your house! Those pink doors are gorgeous!! What color did you use?
Thank you SO much!!! Our upstairs doors are Doeskin 🙂 Thanks! XOXO
I have a twenty-one-year-old college student who would be so jealous. It looks great, and she will always love HP if she’s anything like my daughter. Enjoy her obsession. She’ll be packing up her stuff sooner than you think.
Haha awe love it! Good to know that it’ll stand the test of time! Yes, I love that she loves it so much. It has given her an even bigger love of reading. Thank you! XOXO
I am SOOOO glad to have found this! Thank you so much for the inspiration. My 9 year old is asking for a Harry Potter room and I was struggling on how to tie things together without looking too literal.
I am in love with this and I’m 23 years old! haha So I doubt you will need to redecorate too soon. I’m actually so excited about the new Harry Potter Pottery Barn collection! I’m changing up my room this summer anyways as it’s been the same for too long and I’m thinking of adding some little HP touches here and there. By the way, I’m also a Ravenclaw at heart 😉
I love both beside tables and dresser, I clicked the link but it Did not work , where are they from!? great job!
Hi, Can you please share the paint color used on the walls in your daughter’s room. It matches the Blush wallpaper perfectly.
Thanks,
Sarah
I love the room! Especially the ceiling. Where did you get the wallpaper you put on the ceiling?!?
Hello, I love Abbigail’s HP room. Where did you find the bedspread? It goes great with the pottery barn HP pillows.
Thank u!
