Dining Room Chic

Wow, I can’t believe that we are already on day 14 of my “AW 15 Days of Christmas Giveaways” series!  It has absolutely flown by!  I love that it’s motivated me to really run through, detail and share almost every room in our home.  Although there is still more to go, my goal was to wrap up our full home tour by the end of 2015.  You see, 2016 will be pretty WOAH-mazing for the blog.  Next week we close on #ourhistoricwonderland and two weeks ago we closed on another flip property.  We also have some big changes coming to our business in the Spring of 2016 as well as some really super exciting features for AW that I can’t quite share yet.  I will also be letting you guys into our home and family life much more next year as well.  I feel like I’ve kind of eased into that for the sake of me and my family.  It’s a scary thing to share your life with the world but you are all amazing and I feel like it’s time to share it all.  The good, the bad, the ugly and the craziness that is Mark & Brittany Hayes.

So today I am popping in to share some beautiful images captured by my beautiful and talented friend Paige Ewing with Paige Ewing Photography.  She photographed our home over the Summer for an upcoming print feature (eek! #dreamcometrue) and I wanted to share a few of my faves in our dining room. I just added the hallway tables and accessories form HomeGoods as well as the centerpiece bowl from Painted Fox Treasures which I LOVE!

Kimoto Sushi in Modesto,CA. We don’t have very many decent restaurants, but this one is a little bit of Japan tucked away in the central valley. It is styled after a traditional Japanese izakaya, with fresh sushi and Japanese sake and whisky. You can even buy a bottle to keep on the shelf at the bar for future visits.

Here in Las Vegas, we are very lucky to have a plethora of great eating places. Away from the strip, Honey Salt is one of our favorite little places to bring guests and enjoy ourselves as well as some wonderful fresh food. By the way, have you seen The Admiral pillow that Painted Fox has now? I’ve been ogling it for a bit now.

There are so many fantastic restaurants budding in our growing cuisine culture here in Calgary, Alberta (Canada). My fave for the last few years has been Blink. It is located on a historical pedestrian avenue in our downtown core, in a beautiful sandstone building. The space is intimate and the food is award winning. Perfect for a date night with the girls, a special guy, or a solitary treat!

Chaps from Spokane Washington. It’s a locally owned restaurant/bakery and Celeste the owner is such a sweet lady. Her restaurant’s decor is eclectic using antique and re-purposed items. Best brunch in the world with her famous homemade oatmeal and the chicken fried steak is my hubby’s favorite! Too many things to share about this place and I could go on and on. You can check out her website here:

Award winning chef Harold Blanek recently departed Cru to open a small, intimate restaurant for showcasing his culinary brilliance (instead of just his business mastermind). It’s tucked in the Regal Plaza on south US 41 and called, appropriately, Harold’s. Fabulous food, very attentive service … A must try!

My husband and I have been going there since they opened a few years ago and it is the best food ever (and craft beer)! When I was in labor all I wanted was one of their salads after I gave birth to our son. We’ve been so busy that I haven’t made it there but we will soon!!!

My fave local restaurant is the West Cobb Diner in Marietta, GA. They use a ton of locally sourced/organic food and serve what I like to call Southern gourmet. They put a spin on classic southern dishes keeping it real but deliciously fun. I always order their heart of palm salad and their fried pickles, which are absolutely to die for!

Is your house still recovering from all of the gli Is your house still recovering from all of the glitter, snow and pine needles? Don’t worry… you have one whole month until the next Holiday! 🤣 We’ve been through one too many stik vacuums over the last few years but between the lack of suction and the inability to stand up on their own, they’ve all driven me CRAZY!!! Last Fall we got the Brand New @hoover Emerge Stik Vacuum and immediately ordered one for my boutique and our cabin! It is LIGHT YEARS better than any we’ve tried so happy to say… our hunt is over! P.S. It also converts into a hand vacuum with attachments for everything from vacuuming out your car to cleaning your baseboards! #HooverPartner
The perfect addition… to cozy up your kitchen ♥️ One thing about these rails is that although they are often thought of as something you hang over a stove, you can actually hang them most anywhere in your kitchen. Almost any backsplash spot, a side wall or even over a console. I actually love when people double them up and hang tons of pots and pans! P.S. If you are worried about things getting dirty over your stove, simply hang items you use often and they’ll make their way through the cleaning cycle quite a bit. Even this little basket can be thrown into the wash 🥰 Everything is linked on today’s blog post and right here…
