If I didn’t love every single second of design, this is the moment that I would pitch all 16 of my paint decks out the car window. And yes, I actually have 16. And yes, I use every single one of them. The exterior paint saga did have me in a fret posting daily with swatches and ideas and updates. The interior on the other hand has been brewing in my mind and on my Pinterest boards for months. And I am SO excited to finally share it with you!

To be completely honest, I am personally kind of over the cool gray color scheme of our previous home. Yes, it’s beautiful and in style and fresh and current but when you are in the industry you get over things quicker than most. PLUS, I am restoring a home built in 1906 and I have a feeling gray walls were not exactly the thing. Although I am not trying to re-create a 1906 interior, whatsoever, I am planning to give some subtle nods to a vintage style. Think Anthropologie meets Addison’s Wonderland.

So before I reveal our grand color scheme, keep in mind that although our previous home (I need to update my blog category to say “our previous home”! Sniff… Sniff…) was colorful, the color was in the details… the furnishings, the wallpaper… and less on the actual walls. I don’t want you all to think I have sold my soul to the neutral crew. I chose a classic black and white color scheme mixed with warm neutrals and muted pastels. And since asking our wall color seemed to be the question of the day on Instagram with our previous home, I decided to go ahead and roll out a spreadsheet from Day 1. LOL.

Oh and did I mention that I am also sharing HUGE sneak peeks of the interior too?!? I took a ton of pictures this morning so I chose several to edit and share super quick while I am sitting at Chickfila waiting for Addison to finish up majorette practice. And then we are headed all over town on a hunt for outfits for Homecoming dress-up week this week at school. Seriously?!? I literally JUST packed up every single outfit and costume we own that would suit the themes for the week. So without further ado, meet our paint plan!

For those of you who are new to the “Our Historic Wonderland” journey, let me share some brief details… Last December my husband Mark and I fulfilled a 15+ year dream of restoring a historic home. Although our home at the time was a dream on ten acres, we simply could not pass up the charm of this home on this road in this city. It is one mile from our girlie’s school, walking distance to downtown and on a beautiful historic road. The home was built in 1906 and is 5,850 square feet with four fireplaces and the cutest little garage/carriage home. Oh and let’s not forget that all of the ceilings are 11.5′ tall. We purchased the home completely gutted down to the studs with no electrical, plumbing, HVAC or sheetrock at all. Whatsoever. We then completely re-invented the floorplan to suit our family and got to work in January! Last week we sold our home and are now living in a rental awaiting the completion of the home in early December. We hope. The plan is to complete the paint, flooring, tile, lighting, cabinets and countertops and then work on the final touches over the course of time. I am learning to truly “Embrace the Journey” and enjoy every second of the process! Here’s a couple of sneak peeks at where we started and then you can read our entire journey RIGHT HERE!

ABOUT

Hi, I'm  Brittany

Addison's Wonderland began in 2011 as everything that I dreamed of for my daughter's room. I wanted to create a dreamy wonderland for her full of colors, patterns and precious details. Once her room was complete, Addison's Wonderland was born.
