Good morning!!! Happy Wintry Monday! We are all still reeling from our once every few years frolic in the snow day yesterday. My kiddos are home today so I will be short and sweet! Sharing one of my favorite AW designs to date!
Switching up styles is my FAVORITE! As long as it has fun colors, patterns, textures or all of the above OF COURSE! I had someone comment recently that they thought my style had changed somewhat with the design of our cabin. I think it’s just a good combination of pushing myself to do something different each time and simply not wanting to get bored of creating the same over and over and over again. Being creative is my passion as well as my “therapy” so dreaming up a new creation and seeing it come to life each time is everything for me.
For our basement living room, I needed it to serve double duty. A place we could hang out from time to time and a place that all of us AW girls could sit and work on our laptops, flip through design books or simply take a little break if we are needing a reprieve from our desks.
First things first, the brick walls! I am asked about these often and yes, they are REAL BRICK! From 1908! We simply whitewashed them years back using THIS MIXTURE. We just wiped it on and then wiped the excess back off! I then designed and had the bookcases custom made locally and had the trim painted SW Dorain Gray. That was all quite a few years back so now let’s get to the room design! I almost always start my designs with a source of inspiration… something I LOVE! In this case, it was THESE SOFAS!!! From there, I knew to avoid the “grandma look” I would need to add lots and lots of TEXTURE!!! From this beautiful rattan mirror to this modern fun chandelier, I am IN LOVE with how it turned out!!!
