You just never know what products or images or ideas will be a hit and I was overwhelmed with how much you guys responded to my staircase sneak peek on social media several months ago! Holy cow! It was re-posted a ton so today I am sharing ALL of the details!
Sometimes the tiniest of home design details can take the longest to figure out yet they can also be the most transforming and give you the most bang for your buck! And our stair balusters are definitely one of those things. I think Mark ended up having to change his deadline for me like five times before I finally got them ordered. Without the slightest bit of exaggeration, I searched the internet for HOURS trying to find something that I loved. I knew I wanted something simple but I also wanted something WOW. Something detailed but not fussy. Something plain but not boring. And something AMAZING. A combination I hadn’t really seen before…
For this project I had the unique opportunity to team up with a company AFTER purchasing and installing the product. Typically when I work with a company, they reach out to me prior to the project and I determine if I am interested and if it’s something I love OR I reach out to a company knowing that I love their products and want to use them. Just a heads up. I wanted to avoid confusion when I say that this post is sponsored.

So back to our beautiful railings… After searching through the first 45 pages of Google search results, I fell in love with this one…
Aalto Series Modern Iron Balusters- Tubular
I then played around on Photoshop to play with the layout combining this one with a plain bar…
And then it was over. I was sold. And in love. I chose to do this design on our main staircase in the foyer as well as our open stairwell to the basement in our main hallway which I revealed last week! So as usual, let’s take a peek at it all BEFORE…
So here’s what we did…
1. First, we removed the wall separating the living room from the hallway and replaced it with a single column.
2. We re-ran all electrical, all HVAC and restored the original windows.
3. Spray foam insulation.
4. Sheetrock.
5. We installed beautiful thick molding on the baseboards, crown and windows! Read more about that HERE… “Trim, Ceilings and Moldings Oh My!“
6. Paint! Read more about that HERE… “Paint, Paint and More Paint…“

I’m so glad you posted about this, because I’ve been looking into getting metal balusters for our stairs. But I’ve always wondered how does it work when you are putting them in on a slanted bottom? Our current balusters are wood with the bottom cut to match the slant of the wood on the side of the staircase where they go in. If the end of the baluster is straight then how do you screw it into the slant? I hope this makes sense!

Did you ever get an answer to this question?
I’d absolutely love to know how these were installed with out the use of “feet” at he bottom of each one.

Gorgeous! Did you use different finishes for the alabaster on the walls and trim? I’ve been thinking about doing that but I’ve heard it gives subtle differences with different sheens. Thank you!

What color is on the door?!?
Sonja says
I curious about the paint finish you used on the walls. Flat? Eggshell?
Lizzie says
What are the paint colors for the walls, door and trim???

Beautiful! I was wondering about the door color? I love it and would love to recreate it. The posts mentions it is 1/2 Stardew and 1/2 uncertain gray. Should I ask for these 2 colors to be mixed?

Absolutely love! We have a large staircase in our front entryway and are looking to do the same balusters because of your post! Is the stain for the hand railing and main banister posts the same as what you used on your floors?
