Happy Tuesday Night! I rarely blog in the evening but my plans today were out the window by about 8:15am this morning soooo I am sitting in the kitchen drowning myself in a glass of red wine, typing this post. So let me just start off by telling you about the last two days… Because they pretty much sum up my life as of late. Yesterday Winnie woke up crying at 5:30am for some crazy reason so I went and slept in her room, finally got her back to sleep by 7am, re-set my alarm to sleep in a little while Mark took Addie to school and accidentally set my alarm for PM rather than AM. Which means we were even later to school and then I was waaay late to Mark’s ortho appointment to basically walk in at the very end and find out he did in fact tear his ACL and will in fact need surgery. Which we scheduled for four days after Christmas. After that lovely appointment, I then managed to go about my day stopping at the grocery store FOUR different times. Yes, four different times and four different stores because I kept forgetting things every. single. time. Then comes today… I had my day all planned out which included lots of photography around the house for lots of new posts. Some of which are for companies and are due THIS WEEK. I get the house all clean, my camera all set-up only to discover that my camera battery is dead. I then tear the house apart (that I just cleaned) for 1.5 hours and still did not find the dang charger. I then drove to Wal-Mart which did not in fact have said charger. Even though they said it did online. And the lady was really rude. I then found a wonderful neighbor who had one I could borrow but by this time it was time for me to head to get the girls from school. Which meant no pictures today. And the house is trashed once again. Whew! Did you catch all of that?!?

Tonight I am SO excited to share one of my absolute FAVORITE areas of our new home… Winnie’s Bedroom Suite. As I’ve mentioned in quite a few other posts, Winnie’s bedroom and bathroom were once home to the master bathroom, toilet room and part of the master closet. Once my brain basically took the floorplan, turned it upside down and shook it all up (changing up every single room), the master bath became her bedroom…
And then the master toilet room/closet became her bathroom (this picture is post re-framing and plumbing)…
Yes, my brain thinks in mysterious ways. It’s such a large room with such beautiful natural light that I thought it would be rather amazing as a bedroom!
As I also chatted about before, I had my heart set on whitewashed hardwood floors for most all of our home. We had dark flooring in our last home and it was nightmare to keep clean. I basically hated it. Just being honest ;-). So light it was! Shaw Floors is amazing and wonderful and awesome AND is about to come out with the motherload of new light flooring options. The freaking motherload. I went from not finding any to having trouble even deciding!!! As with our master bedroom and Addison’s bedroom, I chose Shaw Floors’ Muir’s Park in Bridal Veil…
Yep, obviously obsessed. I used it in 3/4 bedrooms! It is GAWgeous!!! And then in Winnie’s bathroom I fell IN LOVE with Shaw Floors’ 3 x 6 Maximus Carrara. The beautiful marble veining coordinated so beautifully with the patterned floor tile and gave the room such an elegant look! I love how her bathtub wall turned out so much that I almost wish I had used that tile in more places in our home! It is really stunning!
So here’s what we did…
1. First, we re-framed the closet/toilet room space into a bathroom and we removed the dumb waiter.
2. We re-ran all electrical, all HVAC and restored the original windows.
3. Spray foam insulation.
4. Sheetrock.
5. We installed beautiful thick molding on the baseboards, crown and windows! Read more about that HERE… “Trim, Ceilings and Moldings Oh My!“
6. Paint! Read more about that HERE… “Paint, Paint and More Paint…“
